Occasionally you may need to block certain third parties from accessing your sites. There are plenty of automatic bots that crawl the Internet, for instance, and generate fake visits and traffic. There are also spammers that leave links to shady Internet sites as comments to blog articles. Such things can considerably undermine your work, since nobody likes to visit a website with countless fake comments, also the increased traffic from both spammers and bots could create high load on the server on which your site is hosted, that could result in the site not functioning properly. One of the best solutions in such a case is to block the IP addresses that produce the fake traffic, as a way to ensure that the visits to your site are real.

IP Blocking in Hosting

If you have a hosting account with our company and you want to block one or a few IP addresses, you could use the IP Blocking tool, which is included in our in-house built Hepsia CP. Through a very simple interface, you'll be able to stop any IP from accessing your content even if you have never had a web hosting account before. All it takes to complete that is to log inside to your CP, to go to the IP Blocking section, to choose a particular domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to input the IP address. You won't have to do anything challenging if you would like to block an entire network - you'll simply have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the whole range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed inside the exact same section, so you will be able to remove any one of them from the blacklist with a click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Our semi-dedicated server accounts include a really simple-to-use IP blocking tool, which will allow you to prohibit individual IPs or even entire networks from accessing your sites with justa few clicks and you won't have any troubles to achieve that even if this is your first hosting account. Once you visit the IP Blocking section of the Hepsia CP, you'll just have to select the domain or subdomain you want from a drop-down list, then type in the IP address inside a box that you will see there and you will be ready. To limit the access for an entire network, you'll have to leave one or more octets blank. For example, if you input 123.123. and don't type in anything within the third and fourth positions, our hosting server will deny requests from all IP addresses between 123.123.1.1 and 123.123.255.255.
